Iran Urges France to Investigate Killing of Two Iranians
WANA (Dec 20) – Vahid Jalalzadeh, Deputy for Consular and Iranian Affairs at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed deep regret over the murder of two Iranian citizens in a racially motivated armed attack in France. He called on French security and judicial authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident and provide transparency and accurate updates.
Referring to the measures taken by Iran’s embassy in Paris, Jalalzadeh stated that the embassy immediately contacted French officials upon learning about the incident, urging the identification, prosecution, and punishment of those responsible for the crime. Moreover, the Iranian Foreign Ministry, in communication with the French embassy in Tehran, demanded a full judicial investigation, the prosecution of the perpetrators, and compensation for the victims’ families.
Jalalzadeh emphasized that the Foreign Ministry, as part of its duty to protect the rights of Iranian nationals abroad, is actively pursuing the case. It will facilitate the repatriation of the victims’ bodies to Iran and will follow up on the matter until the incident’s dimensions are clarified and justice is served.
The two Iranian citizens were killed on Saturday, December 14, 2024, during an armed attack in Loon-Plage, near Dunkirk in northern France, by an individual whose identity has not yet been disclosed by police. The incident is under investigation as a potential terrorist act with suspected racial motivations.
