Iran Urges IPC to Suspend Israel Over Gaza Crimes
WANA (Sep 27) – Ghafoor Kargari, President of Iran’s National Paralympic Committee and Special Advisor to the President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, called for the suspension of Israel’s membership in the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), condemning what he described as “the Zionist regime’s crimes against the defenseless people of Palestine.”
Speaking at the IPC General Assembly and Conference held in Seoul, South Korea, Kargari denounced the killing of over 65,000 Palestinian women and children, the blockade and starvation of the population, and Israel’s hostile actions toward Iran and other nations.
He emphasised that the international Paralympic community “cannot remain silent in the face of such blatant crimes.”
Kargari’s proposal for Israel’s suspension received broad support from many Muslim-majority nations and other attending delegations.
During the same session, Kargari also expressed support for the reinstatement of the Russian and Belarusian national Paralympic committees.
The IPC General Assembly took place on September 27–28 in Seoul, where Andrew Parsons was re-elected for a third term as President of the International Paralympic Committee.
