Iran Urges Release of Full Video of Larijani–Lebanon President Meeting
WANA (Nov 19) – The Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has requested the publication and review of the full video recording of a meeting between Ali Larijani, the council’s secretary, and the President of Lebanon.
According to Al Mayadeen, citing informed sources within the SNSC Secretariat, reports circulating about the content of the meeting are “entirely false and lack any accuracy.”
The outlet also quoted the same sources as saying they considered it “highly unlikely and far from reality” that the “offensive and nonsensical” remarks attributed to the Lebanese president were ever made.
The sources added that the Lebanese presidency “possesses the full video file of the meeting” and urged its release to clarify the truth.
Several media outlets had earlier published reports under headlines such as “Lebanon’s President Confronts Larijani Harshly,” claiming that Joseph Aoun had made “very sharp remarks” to Ali Larijani that left him displeased.
According to those reports, Aoun allegedly stated: “Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, heard very harsh words from me and appeared very tense. I told him: ‘The Shia of Lebanon are my responsibility, not yours.’ These positions go beyond any kind of commentary.”
