WANA (Sep 23) – The Vice President for Political Affairs, Mehdi Sanaei, has announced the program for President Pezeshkian’s visit to New York, emphasising Iran’s commitment to resolving the nuclear issue and preventing the reinstatement of sanctions through dialogue and diplomacy.

In an interview, Sanaei detailed that alongside delivering speeches and holding bilateral meetings with leaders from various countries, President Pezeshkian will engage with cultural groups, anti-war organisations, think tanks, intellectuals, and members of the Iranian diaspora. The President aims to convey the core message of Iran’s rich civilisation and culture to the international community.

Highlighting the significance of Iran’s presence at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Sanaei stressed, “Iran cannot be absent from such a critical forum.” He added that the President will communicate messages of peace, resilience, and the country’s foreign policy positions on regional and global issues, including the nuclear dossier.

Sanaei reiterated the government’s commitment to pursuing diplomacy as the pathway to resolving conflicts, stating, “Iran will present its logic of peace through dialogue, spirituality, ethics, and interaction to the world.”

The President’s schedule in New York includes meetings with several Asian and European leaders, as well as heads of international bodies such as the UN Secretary-General and the Board of Governors. Various bilateral talks will also take place on the sidelines of the assembly.

Concluding, Sanaei noted that alongside presenting Iran’s narrative on the nuclear issue, the President’s side meetings will focus on efforts to prevent the return of sanctions through ongoing dialogue and consultation.
