Iran War Depletes US Missile Stockpiles, Leaving Ukraine Without Patriots
WANA (Aug 10) – US President Donald Trump has rejected a request from Kyiv to supply additional interceptor missiles for Ukraine’s Patriot air defense systems, Bloomberg reported on Monday.
The shortage of US missile supplies stems from the depletion of interceptor stockpiles during the US-led war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, a dynamic that is now severely impacting Ukrainian defense capabilities.
According to the Bloomberg report, the scarcity of American missiles hurts Ukraine, which had hoped to leverage European funding to procure additional US weaponry.
The report noted that few to no American arms are likely to remain in Ukraine under current supply constraints.
During a meeting at the White House, President Trump reportedly turned down Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s request for additional Patriot interceptors.
Trump cited US domestic supply shortages and the heavy consumption of these munitions in the military campaign against Iran as the primary reasons for the refusal.
