WANA (Jun 10) – The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a stern warning today, declaring that the Islamic Republic will not hesitate to exercise its inherent right to self-defense. Tehran threatened to directly target the origins of any military strikes, as well as the bases and logistical infrastructure used to support aggressive operations against its territory.

 

The statement comes in immediate response to recent American military actions.

 

U.S. Attacks and Iranian Retaliation

According to the ministry’s statement, the U.S. military launched “brutal attacks” against areas in southern Iran during the early hours of Wednesday, June 10. Washington reportedly used the crash of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz on Monday night as a pretext for the operation.

 

Iran condemned the strikes as a flagrant violation of the UN Charter—specifically Article 2, Paragraph 4—and the fundamental international principle prohibiting the use of force.

 

In response to the breach of its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Tehran confirmed that its armed forces launched severe retaliatory strikes against U.S. bases and assets in the region that were utilized to orchestrate the attacks.

 

Warning to Regional States and UN Responsibility

The Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the U.S. actions and issued a direct warning to neighboring countries regarding the shifting conflict:

 

Regional Accountability: Tehran reminded all regional countries, particularly those on the southern coast of the Persian Gulf, of their legal and moral obligation to prevent the U.S. and Israeli militaries from using their territory or facilities to plan, execute, or support aggression against Iran.

 

Targeting Infrastructure: The ministry explicitly warned that Iran will not hesitate to strike the launch points, military bases, and logistical networks fueling these operations.

 

International Appeal: The statement concluded by calling upon the United Nations, specifically the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General, to uphold international peace and security and hold the aggressors accountable.

 

Escalating Violations of April Ceasefire

This latest confrontation follows a series of recent escalations and alleged ceasefire violations by the United States.

 

The Foreign Ministry noted it had previously issued official protests regarding Western military activity earlier this month. On June 6, 2026, Tehran condemned U.S. military strikes against radar and coastal surveillance facilities in the Sirik region and Qeshm Island, labeling them a direct violation of the April 8 ceasefire agreement.

 

Prior to that, on June 3, 2026, the ministry had released another statement strongly condemning U.S. attacks targeting an Iranian oil tanker and a telecommunications tower on Qeshm Island.
