Iran Will Firmly Defend Its Nuclear Rights, as History Shows
WANA (Nov 23) – Iran’s Ambassador to Germany, Majid Nili, issued a statement responding to the recent resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors against Iran, stressing that the Islamic Republic will “firmly and unquestionably” defend its nuclear rights and national interests.
Referring to remarks made by Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, in an interview with the Uruguayan newspaper El Observador, Nili underlined:
“The Director General has clearly and unambiguously stated that Iran is not seeking to build nuclear weapons. This truth is rooted in Iran’s history, civilization, and deep religious principles—and should serve as the primary benchmark for assessing the sincerity of those who persist in repeating false allegations.”
Nili described the resolution submitted by the three European countries and the United States to the Board of Governors as a continuation of “biased and tension-provoking behavior,” based on “outdated sanctions and expired pretexts.”
He sharply criticized the international community’s silence in the face of what he called “blatant aggression against Iran’s nuclear facilities,” as well as the continued disregard for Iran’s legitimate right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. He labeled this approach an example of “selective diplomacy lacking even minimal honesty.”
Concluding his statement, the ambassador reaffirmed: “Just as history has shown, the Islamic Republic of Iran will resolutely and without hesitation defend its nuclear rights and national interests.”
The IAEA Board of Governors approved the draft resolution proposed by the European Troika and the United States on Thursday, with 19 votes in favor, 3 against, and 12 abstentions. The resolution demands immediate access for inspectors to Iran’s nuclear sites, including locations storing 60% enriched uranium. It also calls on Iran to cooperate regarding its enriched uranium stockpiles.
