Iran Will Not Abandon Support for Hezbollah
WANA (May 23) – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, in a message addressed to Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem, reaffirmed Tehran’s continued support for what he described as “movements seeking justice and freedom,” placing Hezbollah at the forefront of those groups.
The Iranian foreign minister stated that the Islamic Republic would “never, until the very last moment,” cease supporting what he called the “resistant and victorious Hezbollah,” describing the policy as part of Tehran’s long-standing strategic commitment.
Araghchi also referred to mediation efforts by several regional countries aimed at reducing tensions between Iran and the United States. According to him, Tehran had insisted from the outset that any potential agreement must be linked to a ceasefire in Lebanon. He said this position remains a firm and non-negotiable demand of the Iranian government.
The Iranian foreign minister further noted that in Tehran’s latest proposal — delivered through a Pakistani mediator and aimed at securing a permanent and sustainable end to the war — Iran once again stressed the necessity of including Lebanon in any ceasefire arrangement.
