Iran Will Not Abandon the Negotiating Table
WANA (Jun 03) – At a press conference held today, Fatemeh Mohajerani, the spokesperson for the Iranian government, addressed questions regarding the administration’s approach in the event of a breakdown in negotiations. She emphasized: “The fourteenth administration has been fully cognizant of international threats from the outset. We believe in transparent diplomacy — not in sending mixed messages behind closed doors and saying something else in the media. All scenarios are on the table, and we are fully prepared for every eventuality. The government’s plans concerning nuclear policy and sanctions are clearly defined, and there is no ambiguity in implementing them. However, Iran will not walk away from the negotiating table, so long as its national interests are safeguarded.”
U.S. Contradictions Hinder Negotiation Progress
When asked about the prospect of stalled negotiations, Mohajerani pointed to one of the critical impediments: “One of the main challenges remains the contradictory signals coming out of Washington. Nevertheless, our diplomatic corps, with its high level of expertise and experience, continues the talks with a resolute focus on securing the country’s best interests.”

Iran’s Helmand Water Rights Being Honored
On the contentious issue of Iran’s water rights from the Helmand River, she stated: “Water from the Helmand is now entering Iran at an acceptable volume. Negotiations with the Afghan side are ongoing, and this progress illustrates that diplomacy, when pursued with persistence, yields results.”
Strategic Horizon in Iran–China 25-Year Agreement
Addressing inquiries on the long-term Iran-China strategic partnership, Mohajerani underlined the scope and rationale behind the 25-year agreement: “This agreement reflects a long-term strategic outlook. It encompasses areas such as advanced technology, infrastructure, culture, and connectivity via the Silk Road framework. As with any strategic partnership, concessions are both given and received, and this reciprocity is embedded in the structure of the deal.”
On the FATF-Related CFT Legislation
Regarding the latest developments in the review process of the CFT (Combating the Financing of Terrorism) within the Expediency Council, she noted: “We hope the current deliberations within the council will lead to a resolution. It’s in the national interest that this issue is addressed comprehensively.”
President’s Visit to Oman: Expanding Regional Trade and Diplomacy
She also elaborated on the objectives of President Pezeshkian’s recent trip to Oman, stating: “One of our administration’s foreign policy pillars is deepening ties with neighboring states. Oman is both a friend and a neighbor. We are determined to raise bilateral trade from under $3 billion to $20 billion. While discussions did touch on Oman’s role in mediating between Iran and the U.S., the primary focus was on strengthening commercial, cultural, and economic cooperation.”
On Gaza: Iran Calls for Immediate Ceasefire
Turning to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Mohajerani condemned the ongoing violence: “We demand an immediate end to the atrocities being committed in Gaza. The international community’s silence is deeply regrettable. Iran continues its consultations with neighboring countries in the hope of establishing a lasting peace in the region.”
