Iran Will Not Negotiate Under Threat
WANA (Apr 21) – The Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan stated in a message that Iran, as a nation with a great civilization, does not negotiate under threat or force, asserting that this is a principle the United States must understand.
Reza Amiri Moghadam, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, wrote today (Tuesday) on his X platform page:
“It’s a truth universally acknowledged that a single country in possession of a large Civilisation, will Not negotiate under Threat and Force. This is a substantial, Islamic and theological principle. I wish the US would have perceived…”
The Ambassador’s remarks come amid media reports regarding the start of the next round of negotiations between Iran and the U.S. during the remaining window of the ceasefire between the two sides.
However, Iranian officials have announced that due to the continued naval blockade of Iran—which is considered a violation of the ceasefire—they currently have no plans to participate in the Islamabad negotiations.
The conditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz was part of the ceasefire terms. However, due to the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports following the failure of the first round of talks on Saturday, April 11, conditions returned to their previous state.
Consequently, the transit of all military vessels and ships linked to the U.S. and Israel through this waterway was banned. Additionally, according to Iran’s prior announcement, the passage of commercial ships from all other countries is subject to full coordination with Iranian authorities.
