WANA (Dec 11) – The Iranian national team, led by nine standout athletes from Fars province, clinched the championship title at the 2025 World Mental Calculations Championship held in the United Arab Emirates.
The two-day event featured over a thousand participants from 24 countries. Iran competed with 50 athletes and emerged as the overall winner.
Among them, Fars representatives—Liana Ebrahimi, Lena Bidaki, Vesta Bidaki, Amir Hassani, Mohammad Rastegari, Sania Sadat Sedaghti, Kourosh Erfani, Mohammad Hossein Afifi, and Elina Yousefi—won four first-place, two second-place, and three third-place titles across various categories.
The championship included both main and demonstration competitions, the latter requiring participants to perform rapid mental calculations in front of judges, ambassadors, and spectators. In this section, Mohammad Rastegari performed flawlessly, impressing international judges.
The event is organized nationally by the Silk Road Innovation Center with support from Iran’s Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.
Iranian officials, including the Consulate General in the UAE and Aghil Gharaei, director of the Silk Road Innovation Center, attended the team’s camp and praised the athletes’ performance and coaches’ contributions.
Coach Sedigheh Kerani emphasized that Iran’s approach focuses not just on speed but on holistic development, balanced growth, and boosting self-confidence, a strategy that has helped establish Iran as a global leader in mental calculations.
