Iran Wins Fifth Gold at World Para Athletics Championships
WANA (Oct 03) – Ali-Asghar Javanmardi, a member of Iran’s national para athletics team, claimed the gold medal in the shot put event at the World Para Athletics Championships.
On the seventh day of the competition, held today (Friday), Javanmardi competed in the F35 shot put category and recorded throws of 16.24m, 15.75m, 15.14m, 15.65m, 17.17m, and 15.87m. With his best mark of 17.17m, he secured the gold medal and the world championship title.
Javanmardi had previously won a bronze medal at the Paris Paralympics, and with this victory, he added a world gold medal to his career achievements. Competitors from Argentina and China placed second and third respectively in the event.
With this result, Iran’s medal tally at the championships rose to 10: five golds (won by Amirhossein Alipour, Elham Salehi, Saeed Afrooz, Hassan Bajolvand, and Ali-Asghar Javanmardi), two silvers (by Mehdi Olad and Hajar Safarzadeh), and three bronzes (by Emanollah Papi, Elham Salehi, and Zeinab Moradi).
