Iran Wins Gold and Silver at Asian Rowing Championships
WANA (Aug 30) – Iranian rower Soha Fakhri secured the gold medal in the women’s single sculls at the 2025 Asian Junior and U-23 Rowing Championships, clocking 7:45.20 in the final.
On the second day of the competition, hosted by China, Iran’s national team collected one gold and one silver medal.
In the junior women’s single sculls final, Fakhri outpaced rivals from Kazakhstan, Japan, China, Hong Kong, and Kuwait to claim the title. Competitors from China and Kazakhstan finished second and third, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the women’s U-23 heavyweight double sculls, Iranian duo Saghi Maleki and Mohanna Haj-Hosseini won the silver medal with a time of 7:14.30, finishing behind Vietnam, who took gold. Indonesia secured the bronze.
In the men’s U-23 heavyweight double sculls final, Abolfazl Satvati and Amir Reza Abdali faced opponents from Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, and Kazakhstan, finishing with a time of 6:31.05 to claim the bronze medal. Vietnam took the gold while Uzbekistan secured silver.
In the men’s junior single sculls final, Behrad Legari-Nejad placed fifth with a time of 7:10.34 against opponents from Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, China, and South Korea. The event was won by Uzbekistan, while South Korea and Chinese Taipei claimed silver and bronze.
