WANA (May 29) – Iranian athletes Reyhaneh Mobini and Mohammadreza Tayebi secured gold medals at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships, marking a significant achievement for the national team in the continental competition hosted in South Korea.

 

Reyhaneh Mobini Shines in Women’s Long Jump

Reyhaneh Mobini claimed the gold medal in the women’s long jump event with an impressive leap of 6.40 meters. Her series of jumps also included marks of 6.34m, 6.13m, and 6.33m, outpacing her closest competitors — India’s Sojan Edappilly (6.33m) and Shaili Singh (6.30m) — to top the podium.

Mohammadreza Tayebi Dominates Men’s Shot Put

In the men’s shot put event, Mohammadreza Tayebi delivered a standout performance, winning gold with a throw of 20.32 meters on his fifth attempt.

 

He surpassed China’s Xing Jialiang (19.97m) and Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Daoub Talou (19.92m), who finished second and third, respectively. Iran’s other representative in the event, Hassan Ajami, placed eighth with a throw of 18.20 meters.

Strong Iranian Presence at Asian Championships

The sixth edition of the Asian Athletics Championships began on May 27, 2025, with South Korea hosting athletes from 38 nations competing across various track and field disciplines. Iran’s senior athletics team has sent a 15-member squad to the event.

 

The dual gold medal victories highlight Iran’s growing presence in regional athletics and raise hopes for further podium finishes as the competition continues.
