Iran Women’s Gymnastics Wins First Post-Revolution International Medal
WANA (May 24) – Iran’s women’s trampoline team made history at the Asian Championships by securing a silver medal, marking the country’s first official international medal in women’s gymnastics since the 1979 Revolution.
The Asian Trampoline Championships, currently being held in Hong Kong, witnessed a landmark moment for Iranian gymnastics as Yalda Hassan Shokati and Shaqayeq Cheraghi claimed the silver medal in the senior women’s synchronized trampoline event.
The achievement is considered a historic milestone for Iranian women’s gymnastics, as the tournament also marks the first official international appearance of the country’s female gymnasts after the Revolution.
In the senior individual competition, Yalda Hassan Shokati and Fatemeh Tavassoli finished fourth and fifth respectively, narrowly missing out on the podium.
Iran also earned another medal in the boys’ junior synchronized trampoline event, where Aria Akhavan and Emad Balanjad won the bronze medal for the country.
