Iranian Ambassador Denies Attack on Chinese Vessel
WANA (May 08) – The Iranian Ambassador to Beijing has stated that claims regarding an attack on a Chinese oil tanker were made with specific political motives.
Following the release of unconfirmed reports alleging that a Chinese tanker was targeted in the Strait of Hormuz, Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to China, issued an explicit statement denying any involvement by Iranian forces in the incident.
Emphasizing that the attack on the tanker was not carried out by Iranian forces, the Ambassador stated that the dissemination of such allegations is intended to serve specific political agendas.
“The claims raised regarding the targeting of a Chinese tanker by our forces have been designed and published with the aim of undermining and overshadowing the achievements of the recent visit by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Beijing,” he noted.
This official denial comes as China, Iran’s largest trading partner and the primary buyer of its oil, plays a key mediatory role in reducing regional tensions.
