Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan: A Positive Step Is Taking Shape
WANA (May 23) – Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan said a “positive step” appears to be taking shape in ongoing diplomatic developments, stressing that the process is the result of Iran’s steadfast position and Islamabad’s mediation efforts.
According to the ambassador, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed him on the outcome of his meetings with Iranian officials shortly after returning from Tehran.
He said there are “cautious grounds for optimism” that, if the other side shows sufficient commitment, progress could be made toward a constructive diplomatic path.
The ambassador emphasized that the emerging development is rooted in the Islamic Republic’s position of “dignity,” the resilience of the Iranian people, and the determination of Iran’s armed forces, alongside Pakistan’s diplomatic mediation initiative.
He also praised the role of Pakistan’s government and military leadership in advancing the mediation efforts, specifically thanking Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The Iranian envoy expressed hope that Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts would contribute to lasting peace in the region and concluded by thanking Pakistani officials for what he described as their “sincere efforts.”
