WANA (May 06) – Reza Amiri Moghaddam, the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, has issued a brief but pointed reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement regarding a temporary pause in military operations near Iranian waters.

The reaction came in response to a statement by President Trump, who claimed that following requests from Pakistan and other nations, the U.S. would pause “Project Freedom”—the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz—for a short period.

Trump cited “tremendous military success” during the campaign against Iran and “great progress” toward a final agreement as the rationale for the temporary halt, while maintaining that the current blockade remains in full effect.

In a social media post sharing the President’s announcement, Ambassador Amiri Moghaddam captioned the development with the proverb: “Once Beaten, Twice Shy.”

The Ambassador also included the Arabic equivalent, which means: “He who tests the already tested will only reap regret.”

Earlier, Donald Trump announced the launch of “Project Liberty,” a maritime initiative scheduled to begin Monday morning aimed at escorting international vessels currently stalled in the Strait of Hormuz.

Claiming that numerous neutral countries have appealed for U.S. assistance to free trapped ships facing shortages of essential supplies, Trump characterized the mission as a “humanitarian gesture” and stated that his representatives are engaged in “very positive” discussions with Iranian officials.

The President further asserted that the U.S. has notified these countries of its intent to guide their vessels safely through the narrow waterways, while warning that any interference with the process would be met with a “decisive” response.

In response, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters warned that: “We warn that any foreign armed force—especially the aggressive U.S. military—will be attacked if it attempts to approach or enter the Strait of Hormuz.”
