WANA (Jul 21) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot held a telephone conversation on Tuesday afternoon to exchange views on the latest bilateral, regional, and international developments.

 

During the call, the Iranian Foreign Minister voiced protest against unconventional actions by two French diplomats in Tehran that contravene diplomatic standards.

 

Describing these behaviors as unacceptable, Araghchi emphasized that adherence to the laws and regulations of the host country, as well as commitment to recognized diplomatic principles and norms, is essential for the continued operation of foreign missions.

 

He called on the French government to prevent the recurrence of such actions and to take necessary measures.

 

Referring to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s foreign minister stated that it is a direct result of the United States violating its commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and pursuing escalatory actions.

 

He stressed that the responsibility for the consequences of this situation lies squarely with the party that has endangered the diplomatic process and regional stability by reneging on agreements and persisting with unilateral approaches.
