WANA (Mar 25) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone call to discuss escalating regional developments and the consequences of ongoing military actions involving the United States and Israel, according to official statements.

During the call, Pezeshkian said continued negligence and indifference toward Israel’s actions and violations of international law would expand its military activities and further destabilize the region and beyond. He added that the United States and other supporters of Israel bear direct responsibility for the situation.

The Iranian president said Iran had been subjected to military attacks by the United States and Israel for the second time in nine months despite ongoing negotiations.

He said these actions constitute clear violations of international law and should be condemned by all countries that claim to uphold the rule of law and human rights.

Pezeshkian also said the United States and Israel have used the territory and facilities of neighboring countries to plan and carry out attacks against Iran.

He stressed that Iran is fully determined to defend its territorial integrity and national sovereignty, while calling on the international community to hold Washington and Israel accountable for unlawful attacks and civilian casualties.

Addressing maritime security, Pezeshkian said tensions have increased instability in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting navigation.

He added that no country is more concerned with regional stability and security than Iran, and blamed U.S. and Israeli military actions for the situation.

The Iranian president also criticized some European Union officials and European governments for overlooking what he identified as the root causes of the crisis, namely U.S. and Israeli military actions.

He warned that indifference, appeasement, or support for violations of international law would undermine global legal norms and affect all countries.

Pezeshkian further condemned Israel’s ongoing military operations in Lebanon, saying they have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians.

He warned that failure to respond to actions in the occupied territories, Lebanon, and other parts of the region would lead to broader instability.

For his part, Macron congratulated the Iranian government and people on the occasion of Nowruz, wishing them peace, stability, and prosperity.

The French president said Paris has condemned recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and added that France is ready to take any action necessary to restore the path of diplomacy.

The two leaders also discussed issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations and consular matters.
