WANA (Aug 10) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul held a phone conversation on Tuesday, discussing bilateral relations, regional and international developments, and issues related to maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.

 

During the call, Araghchi briefed his German counterpart on Tehran’s ongoing consultations with Oman aimed at establishing safe navigation routes for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

 

The Iranian foreign minister said the insecurity surrounding the strategic waterway was solely the result of military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran, stressing that the international community should hold the U.S. administration accountable for the security and economic consequences arising from the disruption of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

 

Araghchi further emphasized that restoring security to the Strait requires an end to what Tehran described as U.S. “aggressive actions and illegal interventions,” including the naval blockade and other alleged violations of U.S. commitments.

 

The two officials also reviewed issues related to bilateral relations and underlined the importance of continuing diplomatic consultations between Tehran and Berlin at various levels.
