Iranian and Russian Defense Ministers Meet in Moscow
WANA (Jul 21) – Iran’s ambassador to Moscow announced that the Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics met with his Russian counterpart, Andrei Belousov, during a visit to Russia on Monday.
Kazem Jalali, speaking to reporters on Monday, July 21, 2025, said the main focus of the meeting was strengthening bilateral cooperation in military and defense sectors.
According to Jalali, the Iranian defense minister also attended Sunday’s meeting between Ali Larijani—Senior Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader—and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Larijani had met with Putin on Sunday.
Russian media reported that the two officials discussed rising tensions in West Asia and issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.
According to Peskov, President Putin emphasized the importance of regional stability and reaffirmed his support for a political resolution to Iran’s nuclear issue.
