WANA (May 18) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation on Sunday to discuss the ongoing negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program and Araghchi stated that Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy is inalienable.

According to a statement released by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the two sides exchanged views on the recent diplomatic developments surrounding Iran’s nuclear file.

Araghchi informed Fidan about the indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States as well as the recent meeting held between Iran and the three European countries.

Iranian Foreign Minister, emphasizing that Iran’s right to benefit from peaceful nuclear energy is inalienable, stressed that if there is genuine will on the other side and respect for Iran’s legitimate rights under the Non-Proliferation Treaty, we are ready to establish a win-win interaction in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

Hakan Fidan, the Turkish Foreign Minister, also expressed appreciation for the constructive approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran in pursuing the diplomatic path and announced Turkey’s readiness to provide any assistance in this regard.

The call comes shortly after the fourth round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, which took place last week in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Both parties described the talks as “difficult but constructive and forward-looking.”

Simultaneously, the Islamic Republic of Iran held separate discussions on Friday in Istanbul with representatives from the UK, France, and Germany — the three European signatories to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
