Iranian Army Says It Targeted U.S. AWACS, Refueling Aircraft Sites in Region
WANA (Apr 01) – The Islamic Republic of Iran Army announced that it has carried out drone strikes against locations hosting U.S. military assets in the region, including AWACS surveillance aircraft and refueling planes.
In Statement No. 51, the army said the attacks were launched early today in response to “brutal airstrikes” by the United States and Israel against Iran, particularly targeting residential and civilian areas.
According to the statement, Iranian forces targeted the locations of U.S. AWACS and refueling aircraft stationed at Ben Gurion Airport, as well as radar systems for detecting and tracking missiles and combat drones, and electronic warfare sites designed to counter drones in the United Arab Emirates.
The army added that it had previously conducted drone strikes on U.S. bases in regional countries and military sites in what it referred to as “occupied territories.”
It stated that, based on available information and satellite imagery, these operations caused significant damage and disrupted military operations, including aircraft support and interception of missiles and drones.
The statement noted that the latest wave of attacks involved the use of Arash-2 drones, described as a powerful unmanned aerial vehicle with a flight range of 2,000 kilometers.
The army also paid tribute to “martyrs” killed alongside their families in alleged war crimes, stating that its forces are determined to continue operations until retaliation is achieved and the “aggressor” is brought to regret its actions.
