WANA (Jun 25) – The Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, has arrived in China to take part in the Defense Ministers’ Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Upon arrival, he was welcomed by senior Chinese military and political officials.

 

General Nasirzadeh is scheduled to deliver a speech at the summit, which will be held on Thursday in the city of Qingdao, and hold bilateral meetings with several defense ministers from SCO member states.

 

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a regional body focused on security, political, and economic cooperation. It currently includes ten full members: Iran, China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus — along with six observer states. The SCO is considered one of the largest multilateral platforms in the region.
