WANA (Apr 10) – The Iranian delegation, codenamed “Minab 168,” headed by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Parliament, has arrived in Islamabad to engage in potential negotiations with the United States.

According to reports, the delegation consists of specialized committees in the fields of security, political affairs, military, economic, and legal matters. The start of formal negotiations remains conditional upon the U.S. side accepting Iran’s preconditions.

Accompanying the delegation are senior Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Secretary of the Defense Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Deputy for Foreign Policy at the Supreme National Security Council Ali Bagheri Kani, Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati, and Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.

On the American side, J. D. Vance is also present in Islamabad, accompanied by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Meanwhile, Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, attended the reception ceremony for Ghalibaf and the “Minab 168” delegation at Nur Khan Airbase in Islamabad.

According to official statements, the name “Minab-168” was chosen in memory of the students from Minab, and a symbolic image of the victims was shared alongside the delegation’s departure. Ghalibaf also published a post on the social media platform X, referring to his companions on the flight and sharing imagery associated with the delegation’s journey.

Meanwhile, new statements attributed to U.S. President Donald Trump emerged following the arrival of the Iranian delegation. He reportedly claimed that the Strait of Hormuz would “reopen,” and insisted that Iran must not conduct any nuclear enrichment, adding that the United States would not allow Tehran to impose fees on ships passing through the strait.

He also stated that Iran has been “militarily defeated” and possesses only limited missile capabilities—remarks that have not been independently verified by official sources.
