WANA (Apr 13) – The Iranian Embassy in Vienna has issued a formal response to recent statements by U.S. officials regarding Iran’s nuclear activities, accusing Washington of distorting facts following the conclusion of high-level talks in Islamabad.

The embassy noted that since the U.S. Vice President’s departure from Islamabad, Donald Trump and his administration have repeatedly used the phrase “Iran must not have a nuclear bomb” in their rhetoric. In response, the embassy clarified two critical points:

Non-Weaponization Policy

Iran has consistently and emphatically declared that it is under no circumstances seeking to develop or acquire nuclear weapons.

Intentional Misinterpretation of NPT Rights

The statement accused the United States of deliberately conflating “peaceful use of nuclear energy” with “possession of a nuclear bomb.”

The embassy warned that this conflation is a dangerous precedent for all members of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), as it undermines their inherent and legitimate right to peaceful nuclear technology.

Warning to the International Community

The embassy concluded by cautioning the global community that, despite the intensive negotiations held in Islamabad, the Trump administration is once again attempting to use diplomacy as a mere pretext for further coercion and aggression against Iran.
