Iranian Embassy Responds to Swedish FM’s Statements
WANA (May 06) – The Iranian Embassy in Sweden has issued a sharp diplomatic response to recent comments made by Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard, accusing Stockholm of “victim-blaming” and ignoring international legal frameworks.
The dispute began after Minister Stenergard posted a statement condemning what she described as Iranian attacks against civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates.
Stenergard expressed “full solidarity” with the UAE and argued that any lasting solution to regional conflict must ensure security from Iranian threats and the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In a direct rebuttal shared via social media, the Iranian Embassy referenced “International Law 101” to challenge the Minister’s position.
Citing UN General Assembly Resolution 3314, the Embassy pointed out that a country allowing its territory to be used by another state to attack a third country is legally considered an aggressor.
The Embassy’s statement urged Swedish officials to stop targeting the victim and instead condemn the actual aggressors, concluding with the warning that “history will judge you”.
