WANA (Oct 12) – The Iranian feature film Derno, directed by Hadi Mohaghegh and produced by Mojtaba Golparian, has won the Jury’s Special Award for Cinematography at the 3rd Buenos Aires Provincial International Film Festival (FICPBA) in Argentina. The film’s cinematography was directed by Mansour Abd-rezaei.

 

Released in 2024, Derno marks its third international appearance with this win. The film poetically explores the themes of life and death, navigating the delicate space between imagination and reality. Through a lyrical and reflective narrative, Mohaghegh pays tribute to life and its enduring essence.

 

The film features performances by Hadi Mohaghegh, Mohammad Zarei, Razieh Taheri, Rouhollah Barzegar, and Anoush Homayouni.

 

International distribution of Derno (Vortex) is managed by DreamLab Films, a France-based company led by Nasrin Mirshab.

The project was financed by C-Telecom and CT-Nema Film Institute, with Setareh Najafabadi serving as the film’s media consultant.
