Iranian Filmmaker Hadi Afarideh Joins Apricot Tree Festival Jury
WANA (Aug 26) – Hadi Afarideh, an Iranian documentary filmmaker, has been appointed as a juror for the 11th edition of the Apricot Tree International Documentary Film Festival.
The festival will take place from August 30 to September 6 in the Debed region of Lori Province, Armenia. This year’s jury includes international filmmakers from France, Germany, and Iran, with Afarideh representing Iranian cinema.
The Apricot Tree Festival is a prominent documentary film event in the Caucasus, showcasing selected works from around the world.
In the competition section this year, 20 short and feature-length documentaries from various countries will be screened, including several films previously featured at prestigious festivals such as the Berlin International Film Festival.
From Iran, the documentary “Pir Pesar” by Mehdi Bagheri will be screened in the festival’s special section. Screenings take place in the open-air cinema of Debed village as well as in the local library, alongside specialized cinema workshops.
Hadi Afarideh is known for directing documentaries such as “Blue Truck,” “Hoolain in Iran,” and “Chenarestan.”
