WANA (Dec 01) – The 12th Duhok International Film Festival will host several films by Iranian filmmakers.

 

The festival is scheduled to take place from 9 to 16 December 2025 in the city of Duhok. The Kurdish Short Films section will feature “The Blue Bicycle” directed by Siavash Sa’edpanah, “Sweet Border” by Hadi Ahmadi, and “Nothing but the Truth” directed by Homayoun Dowlatshahi.

 

In other categories, “A Simple Accident” by Jafar Panahi will be screened in the World Panorama section; “Red Kurdistan” by Ahmad Allahveisi appears in the Documentary section; “Night Flowers of the Sea” by Maryam Tafakkori will be included in the Short Works section; and “Among the Rocks” directed by Mokhtar Abdollahi will be showcased in the Children and Youth section.

The Duhok International Film Festival is considered one of the significant cinematic events in the Middle East. Each year, it presents outstanding works from various countries with a focus on Kurdish culture, language, and identity.

 

The festival was established in memory of Yılmaz Güney, the renowned filmmaker and winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1982.
