Iranian FM Spokesperson Tells Macron to Stop ‘Hypocritical and Double Standards’
WANA (Mar 25) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, on Thursday responded sharply to French President Emmanuel Macron’s call for Iran to halt the conflict, saying France should end its “double standards” in international affairs.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Baghaei wrote: “Stop the hypocritical and double-standard approaches!”
He highlighted what he described as silence by French officials on “clear violations of international law,” including attacks on Palestinians, ongoing aggression in Lebanon, and the United States and Israel’s military actions against Iran. Baghaei questioned why France was addressing Iran instead of the aggressors.
He added: “This is exactly like asking the French Resistance in World War II to yield in the face of Nazi invasion. Was such a request ethical, logical, or legal?”
