Iranian FM to Attend Emergency OIC Meeting in Istanbul
WANA (Jun 19) – A spokesperson for Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi will participate in the upcoming emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), scheduled for Saturday in Istanbul.
The 51st extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers will focus on recent Israeli attacks on Iran, particularly the targeting of nuclear facilities, including today’s strike on the Khondab site near Arak.
Turkey has strongly condemned Israel’s actions, labeling them “illegal” and affirming Iran’s right to defend itself against such aggression.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry also confirmed that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will deliver the opening speech at the meeting, where he is expected to call for unity among Islamic countries in the face of destabilizing actions in the region.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi also announced in an interview that a meeting has been scheduled for Friday, June 20, 2025, in Geneva, where the Iranian delegation will hold consultations with the foreign ministers of the UK, France, Germany, and the representative of the European Union.
Last Friday, the Israeli regime, in clear violation of international law and Iran’s national sovereignty, launched a military attack targeting areas in Tehran and several other cities. During this terrorist attack, a number of military commanders, scientists, and civilians were killed.
Following this action, Iranian armed forces launched Operation “True Promise-3” against the regime.
