WANA (Jun 15) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held separate phone conversations on Monday with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi to discuss and consult on the progress and provisions of the Islamabad Memorandum.

 

During his morning calls with the regional ministers, Araghchi pointed to the responsibility of the United States regarding the implementation of the agreement and emphasized the necessity of a complete halt to the Israeli regime’s destabilizing aggression and attacks against Lebanon.

 

The Iranian Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the positions and roles of Turkey, Iraq, and Egypt in supporting a ceasefire, de-escalating tensions, and their diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving stability and security in the region.

 

In a subsequent afternoon call with his Japanese counterpart, Araghchi outlined the most significant clauses of the memorandum, expressing hope that its implementation would mark the beginning of a new chapter of economic cooperation and investment between Tehran and Tokyo.

 

The Japanese Foreign Minister welcomed the Islamabad Memorandum, describing it as an important step toward resolving regional crises, and emphasized the need for the precise implementation of its provisions.

 

Concluding the diplomatic marathon, the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, Iraq, and Egypt stressed the continuation of close consultations to maintain regional peace, while the Iranian and Japanese sides specifically underscored the necessity of maintaining close contacts regarding future cooperation concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
