WANA (May 17) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone conversation this evening with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to exchange views on the latest regional developments.

 

Prior to this, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea also held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Araghchi to discuss the latest developments in the region.

 

According to reports, during today’s call, Cho explained that the South Korean government is conducting further investigations into the attack on the Panama-flagged cargo ship HMM Namu, which belongs to the South Korean shipping company HMM, and requested the Iranian side to clarify its position on the facts related to the incident.

 

According to the ministry, Cho also emphasized the need to guarantee the safety and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz for all vessels, including South Korean ships.

 

Based on the reports, the Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized Iran’s position on the current situation in the region during the call and demanded a swift end to the ongoing impasse.
