Iranian Foreign Minister Meets with Lebanese President
WANA (Jun 03) – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has traveled to Beirut for consultations with senior Lebanese officials, met earlier today with General Joseph Aoun, the President of Lebanon.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
Araghchi conveyed warm greetings from President Pezeshkian to his Lebanese counterpart and emphasized Iran’s readiness to expand relations with Lebanon in areas of mutual interest, based on mutual respect and shared interests. He also expressed the willingness of Iranian companies to assist the Lebanese government in reconstruction efforts.
The Foreign Minister reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for inclusive national dialogue among all Lebanese factions and political groups, aimed at achieving national consensus to address the country’s challenges.
President Aoun, in turn, conveyed his warm regards to Dr. Pezeshkian and extended Eid al-Adha congratulations to the Iranian government and people. He stated that ending the occupation of parts of Lebanese territory and rebuilding areas damaged by Israeli aggression are top priorities for Lebanon’s new government.
President Joseph Aoun also emphasized Lebanon’s approach to expanding relations with all countries and reaffirmed his country’s readiness to enhance friendly relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in various fields.
