WANA (May 31) – A well-informed source within the Iranian government has dismissed reports claiming that President Masoud Pezeshkian has submitted his resignation, describing the allegations as part of a broader pattern of misinformation targeting the Islamic Republic.

The source firmly denied the report, stating that President Pezeshkian has not resigned and continues to carry out his official duties as usual. According to the source, the president’s upcoming engagements and official schedule will proceed without any changes.

Criticizing the conduct of opposition media outlets, the source said that the publication of unverified claims about Iran is not new and that the Iranian public is well aware of such reporting practices.

The official further argued that rumors of this nature are generally intended to serve two purposes: first, to create uncertainty and gather information through political and security-related speculation, and second, to sow division and undermine social cohesion inside Iran.

The source also questioned the credibility of the anonymous individuals frequently cited as “informed sources” in such reports, saying that in many cases these sources cannot be independently verified and therefore should not be considered reliable.

The response came after Iran International reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian had allegedly submitted a letter of resignation to Mojtaba Khamenei. The claim has now been categorically denied by the government source.
