Iranian Ice Climbers Secure Top Two Spots at World Cup
WANA (Jan 24) – The second stage of the 2026 Ice Climbing World Cup was hosted in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, where Speed category competitions took place, featuring the world’s top ice climbers.
At the conclusion of these competitions, Mohammadreza Safdarian secured first place and the gold medal with a dominant performance. Mohsen Beheshti, another Iranian representative, reached the final and stood in second place to earn the silver medal. Third place was awarded to an athlete from Liechtenstein.
Mojtaba Hashemi, another Iranian male ice climber, finished his competition in 17th place. In the women’s division, Mahin Khalili ranked 10th in the world.
Safdarian and Beheshti had previously claimed the first and second titles during the first round of the 2026 Ice Climbing World Cup hosted by South Korea as well.
