WANA (May 22) – A senior Iranian lawmaker has firmly ruled out any possibility of compromise on the country’s core strategic policies, stating that Washington’s current diplomatic maneuvers are part of a psychological warfare campaign aimed at forcing concessions from Tehran.

Ali Khezrian, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, made the remarks during a televised interview, addressing the stagnant state of diplomatic talks and recent rhetoric coming out of the United States.

Non-Negotiable Principles

Khezrian emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran has established definitive red lines that will not be crossed under any circumstances. He explicitly categorized three areas as entirely non-negotiable:

  • The Strategic Management of the Strait of Hormuz: Maintaining Iran’s sovereign role and security oversight over the critical maritime chokepoint.

  • Support for the Resistance Front: Continued geopolitical and ideological alignment with regional allied networks.

  • Retention of Domestic Nuclear Materials: A strict prohibition on transferring any nuclear materials out of Iranian territory.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will absolutely not accept any compromise on these key issues,” Khezrian stated. “We are witnessing excessive demands from an aggressive United States, which is attempting to manipulate global public opinion through media channels to imply that an agreement hinges entirely on Iran backing down from these positions.”

Divergent Realities and the “Third Imposed War”

The lawmaker dismissed recent speculation regarding progress toward a diplomatic breakthrough, noting that a massive gap remains between the expectations of both sides. He noted that even though the “hard warfare” phase of what he termed the “Third Imposed War” has concluded, the psychological and economic pressure on Iran persists.

“I do not believe there is currently any viable text or framework on the table that allows us to say we are close to an agreement,” Khezrian explained. “We are operating in two entirely separate realities. What they are proposing versus what Iran has stood firm on means that, due to America’s overreaching demands, we are nowhere near a point of convergence.”

Turning the Clock on U.S. Rhetoric

Addressing recent public statements from Donald Trump claiming that “Iran is running out of time” to secure a deal, Khezrian argued that the rhetoric is a sign of weakness rather than strength. He asserted that the subtext of these warnings reveals a hidden admission that the geopolitical clock is actually ticking against Washington.

“These statements carry a clear subtext and a hidden admission: it is actually time that is running out for the United States, and they are the ones under pressure,” Khezrian said.

Concluding his remarks, the MP stated that because U.S. officials cannot openly admit to their dwindling leverage, they have resorted to a loud public relations campaign. “Since he cannot openly admit this reality, he continuously shouts across media platforms that Iran has no time, trying to push a narrative that masks their own strategic constraints.”
