WANA (Aug 22) – An Iranian-affiliated container vessel has successfully bypassed the US naval blockade and entered Iranian territorial waters, according to a report confirmed by the tracking platform Superbro.

 

The vessel, which is among the ships sanctioned by the US Department of the Treasury, has reportedly docked safely at an Iranian port.

 

The breach comes just hours after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced a new phase of intensified economic sanctions against Tehran, known as “D-Day,” aimed at maximizing financial pressure on the country.

 

Meanwhile, shipping data indicates that only 17 vessels have transited the Strait of Hormuz over the past two days amid the ongoing US naval blockade and Iran’s closure of the strait.

 

Preliminary data from vessel-tracking firm Kpler, released at 01:24 GMT, showed that four ships passed through the strait on Sunday, following 13 vessels on Saturday.

 

Analysts note these figures may be updated later, as some ships may deactivate their transponders during transit.
