Iran dominated the heavyweights in the youth +95 kg category, where two Iranian lifters both shattered the world record in the snatch.

Taha Nojavan captured the gold medal by successfully lifting 176 kg, while teammate Pouria Abbaspourian secured the silver medal with a impressive 175 kg lift, completing a remarkable one-two finish for Iran on the world-record stage.

Zarei Sweeps Junior 95 kg Division with World Record Clean & Jerk

In the junior men’s 95 kg category, Hamidreza Zarei put on a dominant display to sweep all three gold medals and claim the Asian junior title.

Zarei started strong in the snatch, successfully lifting 155 kg and 162 kg before putting up 164 kg on his third attempt to secure his first gold medal.

He maintained his flawless run in the clean and jerk, going six-for-six on the day. After lifting 200 kg and 206 kg, Zarei successfully hoisted 214 kg on his final attempt to take the clean and jerk gold and break the world record in the process.

With a total lift of 378 kg, he completed his hat-trick of gold medals to reign supreme in the 95 kg division.

Mahsa Beheshti Dominates Youth Division

Iran’s success continued in the women’s events, where Mahsa Beheshti executed a golden sweep of her own in the youth +77 kg category while also competing in the junior 86 kg class.

Beheshti went three-for-three in the snatch, lifting 106 kg, 108 kg, and a division-topping 113 kg for her first gold. She carried that momentum into the clean and jerk, successfully lifting 136 kg and 142 kg before topping out at 148 kg to capture her second gold. Her total of 261 kg earned her a third gold medal, capping off a stellar campaign.

Her final standings in the junior 86 kg category will be determined following the conclusion of that division’s events.

In the same category, fellow Iranian youth lifter Ava Farhadi delivered a strong effort. Farhadi lifted 98 kg and 101 kg in the snatch before missing at 105 kg to finish fourth.

In the clean and jerk, she recovered from a missed initial attempt to lift 123 kg on her second try, ultimately finishing fifth overall with a total of 224 kg.
