WANA (Jun 10) – Esmail Kowsari, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran’s Parliament, announced that a bill concerning the Strait of Hormuz has been finalized and will be placed on the parliamentary agenda once lawmakers resume sessions.

 

Speaking on Wednesday, Kowsari said all necessary reviews and assessments related to the Hormuz Strait proposal had been completed, adding that the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission had finished its specialized examination of the plan.

 

“The bill is ready, and after Parliament reconvenes, it will be placed on the agenda and its final stages will be pursued,” he said.

 

Commenting on recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, Kowsari stated that contradictory statements and what he described as double standards by American officials were nothing new for Iran and had been repeatedly witnessed over the years.

 

Referring to the regional security situation, the Iranian lawmaker called on the countries of the southern Persian Gulf to prevent the United States from using military bases and facilities in the region for its own purposes.

 

“Any escalation of tensions or conflict will affect not only the main parties involved, but also the security and interests of regional states,” he said.

 

Kowsari further argued that the presence of U.S. forces in the region does not serve the interests of West Asian countries and urged regional governments to pursue lasting security through regional cooperation without the involvement of outside powers.

 

He concluded by saying that regional countries are capable of ensuring their own security and that ending the presence of foreign forces could contribute to greater stability and security across West Asia.
