WANA (May 08) – Marine commandos of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy have seized the tanker Ocean Koi in a special operation in the Sea of Oman, accusing the vessel of attempting to disrupt Iranian oil exports and national interests.

In a statement released today, the Iranian Army’s Public Relations office announced that the seizure was carried out following a resolution by the Supreme National Security Council and a subsequent judicial order. The military stated that the Ocean Koi was carrying a cargo of Iranian oil and had sought to “exploit regional conditions” to impede the country’s oil trade.

High-Stakes Special Operation

The communiqué detailed that Navy commandos and marines conducted the high-stakes operation to secure the vessel and its cargo. Following the seizure, the tanker was escorted to Iran’s southern coastal waters and handed over to judicial authorities for legal proceedings.

Defense of National Assets

The Army’s statement emphasized that the Navy remains committed to the “authoritative defense” of the Iranian people’s interests and assets in regional waters.

“The Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not tolerate any violators or aggressors and will continue to protect national property with full force,” the statement concluded.
