Iranian Navy Targets U.S. Command and Control Center
WANA (Jun 03) – The Islamic Republic of Iran Navy announced it has targeted a command and control center located on a United States Navy destroyer in the Gulf of Oman, citing prior incidents involving Iranian commercial vessels and maritime regulations in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Public Relations department of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army stated that the operation took place after detecting a U.S. destroyer attempting to approach Iranian-claimed waters in the Gulf of Oman.
According to the statement, Tehran linked the strike to what it described as regional violations of Strait of Hormuz regulations and operations against Iranian commercial shipping.
The military statement added that the Iranian Navy is maintaining monitoring operations in the area, framing the action as a response to past losses, specifically referencing the sinking of the Iranian destroyer Dena.
