Iranian Official Issues Severe Warning to South Korea Against Military Involvement
WANA (Sep 05) – Following reports regarding potential South Korean military intervention in the Strait of Hormuz, a senior Iranian political and security official issued a stern warning to Seoul, asserting that any South Korean participation against Iran in the strategic waterway would be treated as direct military involvement in war.
In an interview, the high-ranking official cautioned South Korea against yielding to Washington’s pressure to cooperate with what he termed illegal actions by the U.S. military.
He urged Seoul not to sacrifice its national interests and international standing for aggressive, destabilizing U.S. policies, reminding South Korea that the root cause of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz stems from U.S. and Israeli aggression.
The official explicitly stated that Tehran would view any South Korean intervention against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz as clear direct military participation in aggression and warfare against Iranian territory.
He further noted that Tehran would not tolerate any complicity in crimes against the Iranian nation and its rights, emphasizing that regional stability and security remain unachievable so long as illegal U.S. interventions, hostile blockades, and economic warfare against Iran persist.
The warning comes after reports indicated that South Korea had begun initial preparations to deploy a support vessel and military forces to the Strait of Hormuz, following intensified pressure from the U.S. administration on its Asian allies to contribute to military operations against Iran.
