WANA (Mar 23) – Iranian officials have reacted to recent remarks by Republican U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham about Iran.

In an interview about the U.S. and Israeli war with Iran, Graham said that 2026 could be the year to end a “2,000-year conflict.”

In response, Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, wrote in a post on X:

“Didn’t you say the reason for attacking Iran was to eliminate an ‘imminent threat’?! Or has such an ‘imminent danger’ been continuing for 2,000 years against a country that was founded in 1776?!”

Iran’s embassy in London also reacted to Graham’s remarks in a social media post, writing:

“You, rootless and landless — representing a 250-year-old country — you’ve got way too much to say.”
