WANA (Oct 13) – Iranian para powerlifter Amir Jafari claimed the silver medal in the total category at the World Para Powerlifting Championships in the senior division.

 

On the third day of the 11th edition of the World Para Powerlifting Championships, Jafari competed in the 72kg category, successfully lifting 186kg and 193kg in his first two attempts. He capped the event with a 202kg lift, securing the silver medal in the overall standings.

 

Iran’s senior national team, guided by Hosein Tavakoli and Ahmad Molahosseini, is participating in the championships with a roster including Hassan Pashapour, Alireza Izadi, Mohsen Bakhtiar, Amir Jafari, Rouhollah Rostami, Saeed Eskandarzadeh, Ali Asghar Ebarghi, Mobin Mohammadi, Ali Akbar Gharibshahi, Mehdi Sayadi, and Ahmad Aminzadeh.

 

The senior competitions are being held from October 10 to 17, with the final day dedicated to team events. In total, 542 athletes from 71 National Paralympic Committees are participating in this global competition.
