WANA (Aug 19) – The Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf arrived in Baghdad at the head of a parliamentary delegation following an official invitation from his Iraqi counterpart.

 

Upon his departure from Mehrabad Airport, Ghalibaf outlined the primary objectives of the visit, emphasizing that bilateral relations between Tehran and Baghdad remain critical to regional developments.

 

During his trip, discussions will focus on expanding cooperation across economic, political, cultural, social, and security sectors. Ghalibaf is scheduled to meet with senior Iraqi officials, including the President, alongside prominent economic and cultural figures.

 

In addition to political engagements, Ghalibaf will represent Iran’s Supreme Leader in Karbala for Arbaeen and memorial ceremonies honoring the late leadership, conveying gratitude to the Iraqi people for their solidarity.

 

Stressing the influential roles played by both nations, Ghalibaf stated that the region will witness a new order in the future.

 

Ahead of his trip, Ghalibaf took to social media to emphasize the enduring bond between the two countries, describing the connection as historic and unbreakable in an Arabic-language post.

 

He noted that their shared neighborhood is built on brotherhood, resistance against foreign interference, and a common destiny, while expressing optimism that the visit would yield concrete steps toward strengthening indigenous security and mutual prosperity.
