WANA (Aug 30) – The Iranian President will depart for Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on Monday to attend the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

 

Habibollah Abbasi, Director General of Public Relations for the Presidential Office, confirmed the upcoming visit on Sunday in an interview.

 

Abbasi stated that during the trip, President Pezeshkian will address the summit and hold bilateral meetings with leaders and high-ranking officials from SCO member and partner states. Pezeshkian is also scheduled to attend the official opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games.

 

The 26th Summit of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is scheduled to take place on August 31 and September 01 in Bishkek, as Kyrgyzstan holds the rotating presidency of the organization for 2026.

 

The theme for this year’s summit is “25 Years of SCO: Together for Peace, Development, and Sustainable Prosperity.”
