WANA (Dec 30) – Iran’s president has warned that the Islamic Republic will deliver a decisive and regret-inducing response to any act of aggression against the country.

In a message posted on the social media platform X on Tuesday, January 29, 2026, President Masoud Pezeshkian stated: “The response of the Islamic Republic of Iran to any unjust act of aggression will be severe and regret-inducing.” His remarks came amid rising tensions following recent statements by senior US officials.

The warning followed comments made by US President Donald Trump during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which Trump made claims regarding Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities. He alleged that Iran was attempting to rebuild its capabilities, adding: “If that is the case, we will destroy them, although I hope that does not happen.”

Trump also responded to a question about the possibility of authorizing military action against Iran, saying in a threatening tone: “If it is a missile program, definitely yes, and if it is a nuclear program, very quickly.”

Pezeshkian’s message is widely seen as a clear signal from Tehran that any hostile action against Iran would be met with a firm and proportionate response, reflecting the country’s deterrence policy and its emphasis on safeguarding national sovereignty and security.
